Overview
JOB SUMMARY:
Directs daily activities and functions of the Medical Center Security Officers to ensure a safe environment and efficient operation. Monitors assignments of Medical Center Security Officers and makes necessary interventions.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduate or equivalent; A.S. Degree preferred
- Five years security experience with three years of that as a senior officer/shift leader or ten years in the security/law enforcement field with three years at a supervisory level
- Certified Protection Professional certification may be considered as qualifying experience
- Exposure to EMS and Fire response desired
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
- North Carolina Medical Responder training required within first year of employment; certification required within one year of completing training. EMT preferred.
- North Carolina Driver's License (valid with no restrictions) required
- Maintains active Armed Security Guard Registration in accordance with NCGS 74C-4 and satisfies all training and certifications requirements of WFBMC Threat Response Intervention Program
- I.A.H.S.S. Basic and Supervisory Health Care Safety/Security Certifications
- I.A.H.S.S. Safety in Health Care Certifications
- Completion of generic and department specific skills validation and competency training to include Security Services Basic Officer Training Program or equivalent training and certification.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides guidance and oversees daily operations of Security and Emergency Communications including staffing, workflow and productivity.
- Interprets and communicates departmental policies and procedures for the activities and functions of the Medical Center Security Officers.
- Responsible for occurrences being investigated by Medical Center Security Officers to ensure proper response and documentation.
- Plans and implements training programs for Medical Center Security Officers to achieve performance standards.
- Monitors telephone and radio calls received by Medical Center Security personnel to ensure correct and timely response.
- Maintains firearms proficiency/certification and is actively participating in the Threat Response Intervention Program.
- Responsible for interviewing and recommending new hires for the department. Responsible for the completion of daily progress evaluations on all new full-time staff.
- Responsible for orderly and consistent operation of the shift to ensure equal opportunity, advancement and actions.
- Attends all JCAHO and department training required by continuing education.
- Provides age/developmentally appropriate assistance in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
