Overview

Job Summary

The Associate Director of Financial Aid coordinates and awards financial assistance to the student population of Cabarrus College of Health Sciences (CCHS). Duties include the entire process of awarding student aid funds from the application stage through the eventual withdrawal or graduation of each student enrolled in the college. Responsible for compliance with federal policy, regulations, and accreditation standards.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required. 
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal necessary. 
  • Three years experience involving the processing of Title IV Federal Student Aid Programs with experience in on-line use of Title IV Programs preferred. 
  • Familiarity with PowerFAIDS highly desirable. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees the daily operations of the Office of Financial Aid in the absence of the director of financial aid.
  • Answers questions regarding and assists students with student loan eligibility, loan application processing and procedures, and disbursement schedules. 
  • Reviews student files to prevent overfunding, calculates repayments to aid programs due to student withdrawal and follows up on repayment.
  • Assists with administrative reports (i.e., annual federal FISAP report, annual state reports, and the Pell Grant and Direct Loan end of year report) by collecting and compiling data for the director of financial aid.
  • Assists with office reviews and audits, both internally and externally.
  • Adheres to CCHS, state, and federal policies, regulations, and guidelines regarding the administration of federal, state, and private aid, and ensuring compliance with all student financial aid programs funded by federal, state, local and private funds to ensure that eligible and qualified students receive financial support.
  • VA certifying responsibilities 
  • Counsel students and families with participation in event presentations activities on/off campus 
  • Oversee selection and processing of Endowed scholarships

Work Environment

  • Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm 
  • CCHS events attendance per department needs
  • Clean, well-lit, comfortable office setting 

Physical Requirements

  • Requires walking, standing, bending, sitting and the ability to lift up to 25lbs. 
  • Responsible for working in a safe manner.
