Overview

The Coding and Charge Entry Specialist Level II reviews coding and documentation on claims submitted by assigned practices. This Specialist completes coding edits as necessary and provides feedback to practices for education purposes and ensures charges are entered in an accurate and timely manner. This role also identifies potential compliance issues within assigned practices and facilitates appropriate education and demonstrates necessary knowledge and expertise to manage responsibilities for both primary care and specialty practices within the network, as required.  

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school graduate or equivalent.  CPC Certification also required. 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  

5 years or more procedure and diagnosis coding experience in any setting. 

Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and the various medical specialties. 

Ability to read varied handwriting. 

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:  

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

Completes coding and charge entry activities for assigned practices 

Monitors edits, rejections, and scrubs within work queues; ensures work queue tasks are completed in a timely manner 

Level II role may have more complex specialties in their assignments. 

Identifies potential compliance issues and education opportunities within assigned practices 

Collaborates with team members in assigned practices to address coding or documentation issues to improve quality of claims submission 

Strives for positive patient experience. 

Maintains reception desk/work areas.  

Ensures that all activities related meet department requirements, maximizes revenue collection, and achieve leading practice levels of performance. 

Complies with all federal, state, and Joint Commission requirements. 

Adheres to Floyd Healthcare Management Inc. organizational policies and procedures for relevant location and job scope.  

Completes other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
