Overview
The Histology Aide prepares histology slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. This includes frozen sections, paraffin mounts, cytology preparations and stains related to each function. The Histology Aide determines if surgical and cytology specimens are adequate and requests additional specimens if necessary. He/she performs routine maintenance on instruments as directed. The Histology Aide is required to work under the direct supervision of a histology technician or pathologist.
The qualified candidate will possess the following:
A. Education
1. High school diploma or GED from an accredited institute required
B. Experience
1. Must complete a one-year, on-the-job training program
2. Previous experience as a histology aide preferred
