Overview
Job Summary As a member of the multidisciplinary team, designs, implements and promotes individualized art/music experiences to assess, treat and evaluate neonatal and pediatric patients. Implements programs with individuals as well as groups, to facilitate optimal patient outcomes in areas including, but not limited to, reducing pain and anxiety, improving stress management, communication, emotional expression, and rehabilitative movement therapies. Documents a plan of care, and are relevant to identified patient/family needs, medical diagnoses, and courses of therapy, identified goals of care.Essential Functions
Education, Experience and Certifications
Associate’s Degree in art, music or education-related field required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Music Therapist must obtain Music National Certification in Music Therapy required and Art Therapist a National Certification in Art Therapy is preferred. At least one year’s work experience in the field of healthcare Art / Music Therapy, with at least one year’s experience in a medical facility working with the neonatal and pediatric population, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. Experience establishing an inpatient neonatal or pediatric art in healthcare/music therapy program preferred.
