Echocardiography Technician

Overview

What You Will Do

The Echocardiography Tech is a skilled practitioner in assisting with the assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients undergoing diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures; provides care to patient populations with complex health issues; analyzes and anticipates less predictable outcomes of cardiac diagnosis testing; responsible for notifying physician when a life-threatening problem is found; understands and demonstrates Atrium Heath Navicent core values and skills in performance of job duties. 

• Performs all echocardiography studies by established standards; routines, color flow, TEE, pharmacologic & stress exams; fetals; adult and geriatric; including angioscreens.
• Completes all appropriate documentation on each study performed
• Works with nursing staff to assure patient has optimal study as directed by physician
• Acts in a consultative manner to physician when they are interpreting studies
• Manages environment and costs
• Assists Echocardiography Teammates in departmental Performance Improvement initiatives
• Serves as mentor/preceptor for Students 

What You Will Need

• Must be a High School or GED Diploma Graduate. 
• Completion of a program in (1) Echocardiography (2) Radiographic Technology (3) Ultrasound (4) Cardiovascular Technology; holds an Associate’s degree in related Health Science
• 3-5 years’ experience previous echo experience in a lab performing complex echocardiography on all age groups is preferred. 
• No previous experience required.
• Registered echo technologist
• Specialty training in echocardiography; CPR required
