Functions independently in the specialty urology office setting in collaboration with a supervising physician. Provides care that may be longitudinal, and is responsible for urological visits, including supervising certain urological procedures with training. Part-time- 2 clinic days per week (16 hours 0.4 FTE), with the possibility of additional half day as needed

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

 

1.  Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner Program

2.   Current DEA license

3.   Full, unrestricted licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner in the state of NC

4.   BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.

5.  Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and concentrate.

 

Physical/Mental Demands

 

Work requires walking, standing, sitting, liftingreaching, bendingstooping, pushing and pullingMust be able to liftand support the weight of 50 pounds or more in handling patients, medical equipmentand supplies.     Must speak English fluently and in understandable termsMust possessintact sense of sight, hearingsmell, touch, and finger dexterity. Must have the ability to react and performin stressful situations.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Provides assessmentdiagnosistreatmenteducationreferraland follow-up for a sharedoowned panel of patientsor may handle on a by-visit basis
  • Manages urological disorders, follow-up urological surgical visits, supervises urodynamic studies, and works witha stable patient population 
  • Recommends screeningsand tests basedon patients' demographics
  • Manages health care within protocols mutuallyagreed upon by physicians
  • Identifies abnormalfindings early and initiates appropriate interventions
  • Assesses and provides support for the cultural, psychosociallanguage and physically challenged needs of the family unit
  • Provide limited call with urology providers in rotation with other physicians
