Overview

Job Summary

Under the direction of the NET Services Coordinator, must demonstrate competency in basic patient care. Performs only those designated patient care activities that he/she is competent to perform based on education, training, and policy. Must demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal, teamwork, organization, and prioritization skills. Is responsible for designated equipment and supplies used in the care of assigned patients. Must be flexible in changing assignments, workload, and learning new skills. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Supports patients’ needs during transport
  • Performs initial assessment including vital signs for every patient
  • Maintains ambulances and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Observes and reports changes in patient condition
  • Provides complete and accurate documentation for all patient transports
  • Maintains stock supply items
  • Performs duties as outlined in the Georgia Scope of Practice for EMTB
  • Performs tasks such as lifting moving, and transferring patients with appropriate training
  • Practices safe driving practices when operating wheelchair vans and ambulances

 

Education, Training, and Experience

Must be a High School or GED Diploma Graduate. Must be able to demonstrate  the basic fundamentals of EMTB coursework and remain in good standing with a minimum 2.5 on a scale of 4 GPA.  

Other Job Requirements, Licenses, Certifications

Must successfully complete the NREMT written and psychomotor examinations and receive the Georgia certification for the EMTB level. Must be approved to perform EMTB skills independently prior to autonomous activity.  EMT Externs will four months to complete the EMT course and pass the NREMT certification exam.
