Overview

Job Summary

Provides administrative support and training to current and new driver positions in the department. Ensures that all drivers adhere to and carry out daily procedures set forth by the supervisor. Assist the supervisor in the daily operations of the department by assuming leadership of the department in the supervisors absence.

Essential Functions

• Maintains an orderly and clean distribution area and ensures trucks are cleaned by drivers.
• Maintains knowledge of all trucking equipment, and DOT regulations.
• Ensures that daily tracking reports, log sheets, and truck routes are followed per supervisor's requests.
• Serves as a point of contact for delivery issues and communicates any unusual situations to supervisor.
• Maintains and instructs the highest level of customer service and is responsible for monthly visits with customers.
• Performs riding exercises, monitors deliveries for accuracy and precision.
• Orders office supplies.

Physical Requirements

Works in a warehouse environment. Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time. Must be able to handle supplies and linen by reading numeric or alphabetized addresses. Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds.

Education, Experience and Certifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have a valid NC or SC drivers license and or a commercial drivers license with passenger endorsement. Requires no moving violations in the last 3 years and at least 1 year experience in a related driving capacity. Must complete the 4 hour defensive driving course and attend annual driver safety 2 hour refresher course. Must have some knowledge of trucking equipment. Must have DOT physical by Employee Health upon hire.
