Overview

Job Summary 

Under Limited Supervision, Analyzes, audits, reconciles and resolves complex payroll processing and employee payroll issues to ensure smooth payroll processing. Ensures payroll reporting and payments are compliant with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles, and federal, state and IRS regulations. Researches and interprets federal and state regulatory requirements and resolves tax, withholding, garnishment, and wage/hour issues for payroll processing. Responds to auditing and regulatory inquiries. Lead project work with Business Analyst to achieve solutions, manage vendor set up and lead process improvement efforts.

 

Essential Functions 

  1. Responsible for identifying, calculating, and recouping over payments based on the organization guidelines. 
  2. Provide support in audits and address compliance concerns by performing periodic reviews of payroll processes. 
  3. Provide payroll guidance and support to internal and external customers when requested.
  4. Monitor and support Service Now ticket system through case management. 
  5. Create direct deposit files and positive pay files for each payroll processes.  Ensure all submitted processes are verified for accuracy with each banking institution. Create stop payments and bank reversals when needed. 
  6. Assist with processing of payroll and labor distribution when needed for departmental support.
  7. Process periodic and quarterly tax files.
  8. Set Up, Review and Process Foreign Nationals.
  9. Lead team on projects and process improvement.
  10. Various projects and tasks as assigned by management.
  11. Support Kronos Timekeeping System additions and enhancements.

Physical Requirements

  1. Remote work from home in the state of NC
  2. Subject to pressure and deadlines
  3. Occasionally subject to irregular hours

 

 

Education, Experience and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field and two years payroll or accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience with a medical center payroll environment preferred. Experience with analytical review, account reconciliation and, compliance rules and regulations preferred. Experience with Oracle HCM and Kronos Timekeeping systems preferred. Certified Payroll Professional preferred.
