Overview

Job Summary

Provides direct spiritual care services as needed to patients, families and team members, assuming comprehensive pastoral responsibility for the various clinical areas. Participates in 24/7 call coverage to assure availability of spiritual care services.



Essential Functions
 

  • Performs individual pastoral visitation, and provides additional services or therapies as requested or appropriate
  • Ensures appropriate response and follow-up on all referrals
  • Works to effect appropriate liaison with clergy by coordinating spiritual care with community clergy.
  • Provides Spiritual Care and counseling to patients and families
  • Provides summary of activities and completes charting for spiritual care interactions.
  • Engages in pastoral activities other than those specified above only with prior permission and full awareness of Director.
  • Participates in specially scheduled team member meetings of the Department of Spiritual Care and Education. Takes initiative to maintain active and regular supervisory meetings with immediate Supervisor, and regularly reports professional activities to same
  • Maintains confidentiality of all pastoral work and conversation

 

Physical Requirements
 

Works throughout the facility, with patients, team members and families. Walks and stands throughout the day. Talking and hearing essential to communicate with patients, team members and families. Is free of any physical liability which would preclude discharge of normal pastoral duties.



Education, Experience and Certifications
 

Graduation from an accredited Theological Seminary or Divinity School required. Ordination and/or licensed by recognized ecclesiastical authority/denomination required. 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education by an accredited ACPE center required within 1 year or hire.
