Job Summary


The Insurance Follow Up Supervisor is responsible for overall AR health and follow-up of assigned payers and daily responsibilities of personnel in the Insurance Follow Up department. 
 

Essential Functions

  • Assists Manager with hiring, training, and disciplinary action when necessary for all assigned employees.
  • Oversees and reviews assignments and delegates tasks to appropriate personnel. Monitors performance to ensure accuracy and timeliness of completion.
  • Write annual performance appraisals for assigned employees.
  • Performs audit of staff’s work to ensure policies and procedures are followed.
  • In absence of the Manager, assumes managerial role to ensure uninterrupted performance levels.
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date policies and procedures for assigned area.
  • Exercises sound judgment and discretion relating to efficient operation of departmental functions.
  • Review and approve adjustments on accounts.
  • Maintains productivity and quality measures on staff performance and completes monthly reports.
  • Follows-up on delegated assignments to ensure accuracy and timeliness of completion.
  • Works closely with other departments in Patient Accounting/Insurance companies to identify and resolve issues that affect insurance collections.
  • Monitors payer AR, departmental work queue trending and departmental AR
  • Leads departmental and payer meetings as needed.
  • Commute between offices as required for meetings and staff engagement.

Physical Requirements
Work in fast-paced office environment with numerous interruptions. Work requires good concentration, detail-oriented, and ability to make sound decision at rapid pace. This position requires long periods of sitting throughout the day. Must be physically able to move around the office daily and often, as well as move to other facility offices both on-site and off-site. Must be able to lift to 10 pounds. Must be able to reach and bend on a moderate level.

Education, Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Patient Accounting experience required. Insurance Follow Up experience preferred.
