Overview

Job Summary
Performs skilled work under occasional supervision, operates an approved ground Ambulance or EMS Non-Transporting Vehicle, responds to the scene of emergency and non-emergency calls, and applies necessary medical treatment and transport to sick and/or injured persons. Creates patient care and operational reports, communicates with physicians, nurses, and other medical and emergency services personal. Maintains ambulances, equipment, and supplies to manufactures specifications and agency par levels.

Education, Experience, and Certifications
High school diploma or GED required. Successful completion of an accredited EMT-Paramedic training program required. Current EMT-Paramedic (North Carolina State or National Registry) Certification required upon hire. Must achieve official reciprocity with NCOEMS within the first month of employment. BLS CPR Certification required within the first month of employment. ICS-100, -200, -700, and -800 Certifications required within the first month of employment. ACLS, PALS / PEPP, and PHTLS / ITLS Certifications required within the first 3 months of employment. National Registry Paramedic Certification, S.T.A.B.L.E Certification, and a degree in an EMS-related field preferred. One-year of active field pre-hospital experience preferred. Annual compliance with Union EMS specialty and continuing medical education courses required, in accordance with North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Service, North Carolina Association of Rescue and EMS, and local Medical Direction. Must possess a valid driver’s license upon hire and be qualified as insurable by insurance carrier requirements for driving Union EMS vehicles. Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) compliance required. Standards for CAAS compliance are available at www.caas.org.
