Overview

What You Will Do:

Performs pastoral duties under the supervision of the Pastoral Care Coordinator.  Demonstrate understanding and use of pastoral dialogue, prayer, and scripture within the professional integrity of pastoral care and counseling.  Responsible for providing pastoral care to the patients, families, and staff throughout the Medical Center of Central Georgia.  Duties include administering Holy Communion, conducting memorial services and funerals.  Baptizes adults and infants as well as baby dedications, and blessings.  Assists health care professionals in clarifying and interpreting cultural and religious issues that affect the patient’s care and treatment.  Provides pastoral intervention, counseling, and education for patients and hospital staff. Participates in patient care conferences and ethics consultations.  Also assists with administrative responsibilities of the pastoral care department. The individual also is required to attend didactic lectures and participate in presenting verbatims that reflect his or her pastoral work within the hospital setting.

What You Will Need:

• Must be a High School or GED Diploma Graduate. 
• Individual must hold a Bachelor of Science or Arts degree from an accredited college or university, and a Master of Arts in Counseling or a Master of Divinity in counseling from an accredited theological seminary. 
• Individual must have 400 hours of practicum placement with a primary focus on counseling.
