Atrium Health is seeking an experienced GI Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the Neurogastroenterology and Motility Clinics at Atrium Health Morehead Medical Plaza in Charlotte, NC.

Our Neurogastroenterology and Motility practice has a group of dedicated team members interested in improving the lives of patients with chronic intestinal disorders such as gastroparesis, esophageal disorders like achalasia, IBS, small bowel bacterial overgrowth syndrome due to various disorders, constipation, and pelvic floor disorders. We work closely with our group of dieticians and GI psychologists to provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to our patient’s care.

Job details:

  • 100% Adult medicine
  • Ambulatory clinics only: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm 
  • This job has no call but call can be offered with appropriate reimbursement.
  • Learn from an expert team of physicians with national expertise about the management of patients with functional and motility disorders.
  • Perform in person patient evaluations and medication management for adult patients over the age of 18 in the clinic setting. 
  • GI APP is an integral part of the team and will learn how to read motility and other GI physiology studies used to evaluate complex motility disorders.  
  • Other procedures will include learning and performance of gastric mapping, gastric interrogation, and handling of electrostimulation devices.
  • Works closely with our physical therapy, foregut surgery, urogynecology and colorectal surgery colleagues to form a comprehensive plan of care for our patients.
  • Perform and learn the transanal irrigation system for patients with neurogenic bowel disorders due to various neurologic disorders including Parkinson’s disease and Multiple sclerosis.
  • Hospital coverage annually
  • Perform percutaneous gastrostomy feeding tube change, removal, and assist with insertion.

Who you are:

  • Experienced APP with at least 2 years of Gastroenterology experience
  • Nurse Practitioner – Master’s Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. Acute Care board certification required based upon population and acuity served.
  • Physician Assistant – Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required, Master’s Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred. Physician assistants with doctorate training are encouraged to apply.
  • APP who can demonstrate appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills .
  • Research background is not required. 
  • APP who has the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions.
  • APP is willing to learn and be part of the education for GI fellows, residents and medical students.
