Overview

Job Summary

As a Solution Architect, you will be responsible for evaluating our organization's business needs and determining how IT can support those needs by leveraging software, hardware, and/or other infrastructure.

The Solution Architect is also responsible for bringing forward innovative ideas and approaches to enhance our customers strategic position in the marketplace. To achieve this, you will collaborate with multiple internal and external (third party) teams as needed to analyze and scope of the business needs and determining the relevant IT components needed to build a solid solution. 

During the design phase, the Solution Architect closely examines the different elements of business requirements formulating how technology can be applied to solve specific problems. Next, they propose a combination of IT building blocks that provide the best possible solution to meet the business needs. This process is very detail-oriented and serves as a connecting piece between enterprise architecture and technical deployment/implementation. 

The Solution Architect will throughout this process, oversee all technological risks and make sure that the prescribed solution proves to be consistent with enterprise standards while meeting all the necessary business requirements. 



Essential Functions
 

  • Meet with stakeholders and evaluate and define all technical problems/needs, and then compare needs to solutions that already exist. Should a suitable technology already exist within Atrium Health’s portfolio of business applications, create a design package for Atrium Health IAS Build/Run teams. Recommend best practices for the entire solution.
  • Audits of infrastructure application servers for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures.
  • Provides responsive support to the application development and operational activities of the Information Services department.
  • Reports system performance, makes recommendations, and takes appropriate action to insure the best performance per utilization of computer resources.
  • Develops and maintain testing mechanism to verify capabilities of incoming Software/Hardware releases to insure viability before go-live.
  • Advises staff on proper data administration and program design to improve capabilities of existing programs and systems.
  • Manages all aspects of projects including budget development, scope definition, time line preparation, resource estimation and management, and status reporting. Plans projects using standard System methods to develop manpower and cost estimates.
  • Supports the System Engineers and IS Management from a technical perspective.
  • Designs Technology applications solutions such as: Voice over IP, SD-Wan and Data Center Design. 
  • Scrutinize technical constraints to analyze alternatives, mitigate risks, and conduct process re-engineering as necessary to meet project requirements.
  • Document and describe all aspects of a project/design to senior management and company stakeholders
  • Assist the project implementation teams by delivering comprehensive designs according to specifications
  • Working directly and indirectly with Enterprise Architecture to aid, perform POC’s and develop enterprise standards and assist with standards enforcement. 
  • Coordinate and Attend meetings, demonstrating team leadership, subject matter competency providing an in-depth Knowledge of design and approach.
  • Deliver daily both oral and written Communications which may include the development of Design and/or projects presentations.
  • Become a trusted partner and act as a liaison between the customer and the IAS teams.

 

Physical Requirements


This position is subject to high-level visibility through exposure to Administration. Work duties will require high degree of proficiency in verbal and written communications. Must be available for call-back support on a regular basis. Work requires during conversions and/or training extensive evening and weekend hours. Must be able to lift objects that weigh up to 35 pounds.


Education, Experience and Certifications
 

High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or job related field preferred. 8 years experience installing and supporting sophisticated information systems in a health care environment utilizing client/server technologies. Advanced knowledge of job related systems such as Unix, Linux, Window; proficient in script writing preferred. General knowledge of networks and TCP IP protocol. Formal training in a variety of information systems technology preferred.
