Overview

This position is eligible for Sign on Bonus of up to $15,000 for Full Time positions and $7,500 for Part Time positions for new Atrium Health teammates. Job Summary

Evaluates, plans, directsandadministers programs of PhysicalTherapy (PT) in an inpatientacute level setting, upon referral by the physician.Plans and conducts PT programs to restore function, prevent disability, and help patients reach their maximum level of independence.

Essential Functions
  • Providesdirect therapy services to patients admitted to a levelof care where service provision isrequired 7 days a week,including holidays.
  • Evaluatespatients, selects and administers assessment techniques, synthesizes information to establish appropriate patientcare plan to include necessarymodalities, procedures,exercise programs, therapeutic groups and patienteducation as warrantedby a holistic view of the patient'sdiagnosis, condition, age, and discharge needs.
  • Gathersandinterprets appropriate data from the medical record, physicianreports, patient, and/or family as evidenced by documentation.
  • Documents evaluations, tests, progress notes, daily treatment notes, attendance records,patient/family education, outcomes, discharge notes, and charges as needed.
  • Communicates patient'sevaluation and subsequentprogress to physician, referral sources,and other clinical staff, coordinatespatient's schedule and treatmentprograms, and discharge planning.
  • Provides supervision of PTA’s and Rehab Techs/Aides as required for licensure.

 

Physical Requirements

Hearing (corrected) adequate for oral/aural communication. Vision (corrected) adequate for reading. Intelligible speech and adequate language/cognitive skills to perform job duties.  Sitting, standing, and walking requiredthroughout the day.Jobduties sometimesrequire climbing stairs, kneeling, twisting,bending; on occasion, crouching,crawling and reaching overhead. Lifting of patients, equipment or supplies will be required up to 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally. Able to laterally transfer patients 100 pounds rarely. Must be able to demonstrate any appropriate exercise and activities to patients/caregivers.Personal Protective Equipmentsuch as gloves, goggles, gowns, and masks are sometimes required due to possibleexposure to hazardouschemicals or blood and body fluids.Work is in a fast-paced clinical environment. The work environmentis primarily indoors but occasionally outdoors.


 

Education, Experience and Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy program required. NC license for PhysicalTherapy required. Possess and maintain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required.
