Overview 

Advocate Health seeks an Evaluation & Research Partnerships Lead for the new Advocate National Center for Health Equity (ANCHE). The Lead will develop and oversee the operational strategy for Impact Evaluation as an embedded function across the Division of Community & Social Impact (CSI Division) and aligned departments, along with administration of research partnerships in collaboration with Enterprise Academic and CSI Division leadership. The Director is responsible for strategic visioning and management of cross-functional teams and oversight of all operations for evaluation and research partnerships including data governance and human subjects requirements, reporting and communications, and ongoing process improvement. Responsible for ensuring alignment and collaboration across ANCHE, CSI Division and other key internal and external stakeholders such as funders, Clinical Service Areas, Information Technology, Quality Improvement, Enterprise Academics, and Human Resources Strategic Workforce Planning. 

 

Essential Functions 

 

  • Develops and executes an overarching strategic vision for Impact Evaluation as an operationally-focused, embedded resource working alongside clinical and administrative leaders across CSI Division and aligned departments, and serving as a foundation for research partnerships in advanced applications.
  • Serves as administrative leader over research partnership operations, including partnership and resource sharing agreements, timeline and deliverable commitments, conflict resolution and problem-solving, and ensures communication and approvals from relevant ANCHE, CSI, and Enterprise oversight committees.  
  • Ensures quality and completeness of all contractual, reporting, and compliance requirements associated with active grants, sponsorships, sub-awards, and any other funding contracts supported by the Impact Evaluation team. 
  • Responsible for adherence to all system data governance and human subjects compliance requirements associated with Impact Evaluation projects and commitments, including assurance of appropriate training and resources for reporting teammates.
  • Oversees development and maintenance of standardized measures of performance, business case and return on investment (ROI) frameworks, process improvement, and outcomes to assess the impact and value of system initiatives across all specialty areas supported by Impact Evaluation.
  • Partners with peer leaders over ANCHE health equity analytics to develop and oversee aligned strategies for data collection and access workflows necessary for Impact Evaluation objectives, with a focus on efficiency, sustainability, and building best practices for enterprise scalability.
  • Employs an iterative process improvement approach to incorporate learnings and best practices from research partnerships into Impact Evaluation operational strategy with a focus on efficiency, sustainability, and enterprise scalability.
  • Works in collaboration with clinical and administrative leaders, Enterprise Academics, and foundation partners to develop and execute grant and private donor strategies for high-impact programing and initiatives
  • Serves as expert reviewer and co-author of grant applications aligned with ANCHE and CSI Division priorities, participates as co-investigator or principal investigator on grant applications as appropriate and in alignment with ANCHE goals and objectives. 
  • Disseminates evidence through academic and non-academic channels including academic journals and presenting papers at scientific meetings and forums to establish ANCHE as a value leader nationally. 
  • Responsible for the hiring, development and performance management of direct reports. 
  • Participates in the development of ANCHE goals & objectives and research & evaluation agendas. Provides support for organizational growth and operational improvement. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Education/Experience Required 

 

The ideal candidate will a hold a Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Sc.D., Dr.P.H. or similar degree designation) in epidemiology, behavioral science, health services research, economics or related field or masters of business/healthcare administration degree (MBA, MHA or similar degree designation) with additional public health or evaluation methods training (M.P.H., M.S., or similar degree designation) with at least five (5) years of applied experience and three (3) years of leadership experience. Experience within an academic health system and clinical environment is preferred. We encourage applicants with general technical training across multiple areas of program evaluation/public health, business administration and/or academics and diverse experience in applications across healthcare, industry, commercial, and/or non-profit entities. Demonstration of experience with communication and collaboration across diverse stakeholders, strategic leadership and management of direct reports is required.  

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • At least five (5) years applied experience and three (3) years leadership experience in the evaluation of complex health services or community health initiatives, business case development and/or administration, and diverse stakeholder collaboration.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship and presentation skills necessary.
  • Demonstrated strong skills required in the following: Problem solving in a complex systems environment, strategic communications, strategic planning, written and oral communication, multi-disciplinary collaboration, and ability to work effectively and drive consensus amid diverse stakeholders.
  • Must have leadership experience in design, development, implementation, and monitoring of data collection and evaluation plans, business case development and communication.
  • Must have experience supervising direct reports and managing human resources requirements. 
  • Highly proficient analytical and writing skills; candidates with publication experience in clinical and/or health equity-related academic journals are encouraged to apply. Candidates with experience developing business models for clinical administration are encouraged to apply.  
  • Experience as a grants principal investigator or co-investigator preferred.
