Overview

Job Summary

Under indirect supervision, performs all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of mammographic radiographic images.  Responsible for the care of the patient while in the Breast Care Center.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates competency in producing diagnostic images.
• Uses proper positioning for all mammographic procedures and bone density exams.
• Formulates appropriate techniques to demonstrate anatomy of area of interest based on sound radiographic principles.
• Reviews all diagnostic requests for appropriateness based on the clinical information provided.
• Communicates unclear to the radiologist for final approval.
• Judges diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission for radiologist interpretation.
• Maintains patient information, reports and files.
• Ensures that diagnostic images are verified in PACs.
• Performs clerical responsibilities associated with the acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.
• Documents pertinent patient history on the patient questionnaire.
• Accurately records relevant and required information in the appropriate documentation tool.
• Participates in maintaining supplies, equipment and department cleanliness.

Education, Training, and Experience

• High school graduate or GED.  
• Graduate of an AMA approved school of radiologic technology. 

Other Job Requirements, Licenses, Certifications

Registered or registry eligible through the ARRT. Advanced certification in mammography required; or must be achieved within 1 year of hire.
