JOB SUMMARY

The Dental Assistant's primary responsibilities are to provide the patient with quality care and to provide the doctor with quality assistance on patient procedures. The Dental Assistant has direct responsibility for patient's excellent experience and the patient retention while in the chair. We are looking for a dental assistant that would be available most days of the week for some scheduled and unscheduled fill-in work.  The individual should be available to fill in on both a short notice or scheduled notice. There is the opportunity to work up to 30 hours per week, if needed.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION

Completion of an accredited dental assisting program (DAII or CDA); or equivalent combination of training and experience required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent. Graduate of an accredited dental assisting school.
  • One year work experience working in a Dental office preferred.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Solid oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills, work experience with electronic medical record preferred 
  • Ability to multi task with efficiency
  • Ability to recognize common safety hazards and take precautions to establish a safe work surrounding 
  • Ability to withstand long periods of standing and walking
  • Ability to be focused and organized, working as a team player at all times

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Assist the doctor with all dental procedures including but not limited to, take directions from doctor, anticipate doctor's needs, performing patient oral evaluations, take, develop and mount accurate and high-quality X-rays, various laboratory duties including provisional.
  2. Perform efficient and accurate procedures to help maintain doctor's schedule and patient flow; create "no patient wait time;" maintain time flexibility for patient; be present, engaged, ready to work at all assigned shift times.
  3. Review patient chart prior to doctor arrival and log appropriate patient data during exam and treatment as well as transcribe doctor notes in patient chart
  4. Maintain patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance
  5. Follow OSHA and company safety policies and procedures
  6. Promote and market the company's services, retail products and doctors to patients as well as educate patients and address their questions and/or concerns
  7. Verify patient health history (basic health review, medications, understanding impact with dentistry) and document appropriately in patient's chart.
  8. Complete checklists as assigned.
  9. Clean and prepare operatory per company procedures prior to patient appointment
  10. Sterilize equipment and operatories per OSHA guidelines 
  11. Assist staff in scheduling patients' follow up visits
  12. Create all NEA's as necessary for all work done by the end of the day.
  13. Assist with cleaning of front office areas as needed.
  14. Follow up with labs to ensure quality and timely products
  15. Track incoming and outgoing lab cases with staff 
  16. Assist hygienist(s) as requested
  17. Monitor level of dental supplies and order as assigned by Office Leader using approved formulary.
