Optician Assistant, Full Time, Days, Elkin, NC

Optician Assistant under the direct supervision of an optician, dispenses glasses. Handles various clerical responsibilities for Optical Services area and provides front desk support at offsite location(s).

YOU’LL NEED

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent. 
  • Three years’ experience working in an optical shop.
  • Current CPR certification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists customers in frame and lens selection, measuring sed height and pupil distance with adjustments as needed. 
  • Manages glass repair and adjustment orders.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of glasses, brands, and features to guide patient decisions. 
  • Handles phone calls, retrieves medical records, and notified patients about contact/glasses readiness. 
  • Conducts equipment maintenance, including repairs, cleaning, and adjustments. 
  • Processes payment, including credit card transactions.
  • Manages patient check-ins and check-outs.
  • Schedules patient appointments using an off-site system.
  • Performs additional related tasks as required. 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good interpersonal and clerical skills.
  • Good math skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Combination of medical office and exam/procedure rooms.
  • Well-lighted, well-ventilated, and adequate space.
  • Frequent exposure to diseases, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
