Overview

Job Summary

Serves as a role model to faculty and provides academic and administrative leadership for the department. Creates an environment conducive to teaching and learning; plans, implements, and assesses program outcomes; designs, implements and evaluates curriculum; and recruits, selects, and advises students.


Essential Functions
 

  • Responsible for quality management of the program.
  • Oversees the planning, development, and implementation of curriculum in accordance with emerging trends and approval/accrediting agencies.
  • Provides instruction each semester; face to face, online, in the classroom, clinical or lab setting.
  • Collaborates with Admissions and Student Affairs staff to recruit, select, and retain students.
  • Anticipates and recommends needed resources.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors program budgets and policies and procedures to guide and support the program. .
  • Continually develops knowledge of pedagogy, the academic discipline, program management, and as appropriate the clinical profession.

 

Physical Requirements


Normal or corrected auditory and visual acuity. Able to use standard office equipment, including computers. Environment is climate controlled with occasional exposure to inclement weather when travelling between buildings. Occasional travel to other locations.


Education, Experience and Certifications
 

Minimum of a master's degree in Biology required or minimum of degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in the discipline. Minimum of 3 year’s higher education instruction experience preferred.
