3K Medical/Behavioral Observation: 3K is a 22-bed observation unit. Our patients are here for a variety of behavioral health reasons requiring hospitalization. On 3K we do cohort most of the children at Levine Children's Hospital with a mental/behavioral health diagnosis. However, because we are a medical observation unit, we can also care for patients with a 1-2 day stay in the hospital. Majority of these diagnosis include IV hydration, rule out sepsis, ortho observation, and surgical observation. Candidates must have at least 6 months of RN experience, this position is not for new graduates.
Our staff is very passionate about caring for children and teens with behavioral health needs. We have a diverse group of nurses with backgrounds in Adult and Pediatric Nursing, Behavioral Health, and Med/Surg nursing, to name a few. We are all CPI trained and certified. We have championed the Disruptive Patient Star Program at LCH to address the safety issues related to this population. In addition to the nursing staff on 3K, we have psychiatric technicians to help care for our behavioral health population.
