Patient Service Rep- Operating Room

Overview

The Patient Services Representative/Registration Clerk is responsible for checking patients into the department and for the representation of patients and families in non-medical matters pertaining to their needs, comfort and personal satisfaction. This individual represents the hospital administration's concerns for and willingness to assist the patient and family by playing a key role in providing a caring atmosphere and trust. The Patient Service Representative manages, educates and enhances communication with patients and their families, employees, physicians and volunteers regarding the pager system. He/she facilitates the flow of the patient from the waiting area to the surgical area. In addition to acting as a liaison between the surgical services staff and the patient/family, the Patient Service Representative interacts with other departments to ensure that patient and family needs are satisfied and then follows up on the same. This individual communicates with the patients and families in a compassionate manner and proactively works to seek out ways to improve the overall experience at Atrium Healt Floyd. 

The qualified candidate will possess the following: 

A. Education 

1. High school diploma or GED from an accredited institute required 

B. Experience 

1. Six months' experience in a related field preferred 

2. Basic knowledge of medical terminology 

3. Accurate typing and filing skills 

4. Basic computer skills, including Windows-based programs
