Director- Pharmacy

Overview

The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for overseeing all medication storage, preparation, and dispensing for the hospital. The Director ensures the provision of efficient, quality pharmaceutical care to inpatients, outpatients, and all other customers of the organization. This individual directs the procurement, storage, preparation, and dispensing of all medications for all patient categories including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. The Director of Pharmacy maintains appropriate records necessary to meet all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements of the organization, state, federal, and regulatory agencies. In addition to supporting and promoting the mission and vision of the institution, he/she plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates the Pharmacy Department on a continuous basis. The Director of Pharmacy participates in the budgeting activities, resource allocation, strategic planning, and providing services for the department.

Qualifications:

A. Education
1. Degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy

B. Experience
1. 8-10 years healthcare system experience preferred
2. 2-4 years in a management position preferred

C. Licensure/Affiliations
1. Current license to practice Pharmacy in the state of Georgia or Alabama as determined by job location
2. Participation in local, state, and national healthcare organizations is highly encouraged
