Overview

Job Summary

Oversees the administrative operations of department and works with the department’s Leadership team to achieve outcomes consistent with the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives. Serves as a liaison between administration, team members, and physicians, as well as internal departments and external agencies. Oversees financial activities for the department, including budget management. Supervises department team members. Provides support to residency education program.



Essential Functions

  • Oversees day to day departmental operations and supervision/management of department team members.
  • Provides support to residency program as directed by Leadership.
  • Assists with departmental special programs, outreach, and faculty educational activities.

  • Reviews monthly department financial reports against budget and report variances and concerns to Leadership.
  • Reviews, authorizes, and tracks financial documents and assures the department budget is adhered to prior to routing for higher approvals and expediting.
  • Participates in provider recruitment process cycle; interviews, contracting, overseeing credentialing, tracking licensure/certification, onboarding, and retention.
  • Ensures that departmental operations are in compliance with accrediting regulatory agency standards, policies, and procedures, as appropriate.
  • Ensures department job descriptions are adequately defined and reviewed appropriately.

Physical Requirements

Work requires long periods of sitting, operating keyboard, and telephone use. Works in a busy office environment. Frequent contact with various academic health professionals. Work requires occasional lifting of documents and/or supplies. Work may require walking to different departmental office(s) on campus. Responsible to work in a safe manner.



Education, Experience and Certifications

High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred. 5 years managerial or supervisory experience in an academic medical center or in healthcare required.
