Overview

Job Summary

Under general supervision of the enterprise Chief Clinical Informatics Officer, is responsible for the management, operation, and administration of the informatics program for the Atrium Health Navicent market.  The Clinical Informatics Director works collaboratively with enterprise applications and informatics teams to ensure application projects are implemented, maintained and supported.  The Clinical Informatics Director reports to the market CIO.

 

Essential Functions

  • Manages the design, installation and support of sophisticated information systems utilizing vendor and in-house developed software packages.
  • Manages the administrative activities of the informatics section of Information Services Division, including the development of work plans, procedures, training plans, computer job accountability, and supervision of informatics personnel.
  • Assists in the administration, planning and coordination of information processing activities.
  • Assists and advises user agencies and Information Services personnel on policies and procedures relating to the adoption and development of computer systems in a complex multi-entity provider environment.

 

Education, Training, and Experience

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Nursing or related field.  Eight years’ experience in informatics; five years’ experience in informatics or related management.  Clinical degree and experience required.

 

Other Job Requirements, Licenses, Certifications

Licensure/Certifications: Current licensure (or ability to procure) to practice as a Registered Nurse in GA, or equivalent; compact license preferred.

Epic’s Clinical Informatics certification (or ability to obtain within six months); Epic application certification preferred.

ANCC (or equivalent, if not a nurse) certification in Informatics.

 

Physical Requirements

Work environment is subject to high-level visibility through verbal and written communications with senior hospital management, resource planning decisions, associated project deadlines, personnel evaluation and counseling. Must be able to lift objects that weigh up to 35 pounds. Each employee has the responsibility to work in a safe manner.
