Job Description

The Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Physics Residency is recruiting to fill a Clinical Medical Physics Residency position in the Charlotte region based at Atrium Health’s Levine Cancer Institute starting July 2023. This CAMPEP-accredited Residency is a two-year program that emphasizes clinical excellence and professional development in Radiation Oncology Physics. Residents are expected to become an integral part of the Department of Radiation Oncology performing clinical duties while interacting closely with the entire faculty and staff in a collegial manner. Graduating Residents are expected to be well-prepared for a career in clinical Medical Physics. Applicants must have a PhD or MS degree in Medical Physics from a CAMPEP accredited graduate program or have a PhD or MS degree in physics or related field and have completed a CAMPEP accredited certificate program. Facility and Equipment

Levine Cancer Institute Radiation Therapy clinics are equipped with Varian treatment planning (Eclipse v16.1), EMR (ARIA 16.1) and Clinac/TrueBeam treatment delivery systems.  One LCI clinic is equipped with RayStation (V11A) TPS, Mosaiq EMR and an Elekta Infinity linear accelerator.  Each clinic is equipped with a CT Simulator (GE/Philips). HDR and LDR (prostate seed implants) are offered at select clinics along with radiopharmaceutical infusions. LCI clinics have active SBRT and SRS programs and employ Surface Image Guidance Technology in most facilities.  MIM Maestro image management software with AI contouring tools is also available. A full complement of QA tools and technologies are available. 

 

In 2022, Atrium Health broke ground on a new radiation facility where proton therapy, GammaKnife radiotherapy and radiopharmaceutical administration will be offered.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent to moderate heavy lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying in excess of 100 pounds. Requires frequent walking, standing, stooping and reaching. Manual dexterity required. Heavy concentration with computers. Environment is climate controlled. Exposure to radiation, chemicals, pathogens and patient body fluids.
