Overview

Wake Forest University School of Medicine invites applications to fill an open rank, tenure track position with an individual studying the intersection of biological aging and chronic disease. The candidate will connect with a leading translational research program seeking to improve human health through a better understanding of aging biology. We are particularly interested in those working in the areas of:

  • Aging of the key physiologic systems critical to physical function and healthy aging including: the immune, musculoskeletal, endocrine, and cardiovascular systems
  • Geroscience, exploring age-related biological contributors to human health and physical function
  • Intervention development focused on optimize health through applying mechanistic understanding of aging 
  • The application of bioinformatic approaches to the above 

Wake Forest University School of Medicine has a highly collaborative, research intensive faculty and offers a dynamic environment for cutting edge multidisciplinary research. The rich collaborative environment includes many  nationally recognized research entities including: the Sticht Center for Healthy Aging and Alzheimer’s Prevention, two NIA funded centers (Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center, Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center), the Division of Public Health Sciences, an NCI-funded Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM), the Center for Precision Medicine, the Center for Vaccines at the Extremes of Aging, and the WFU Primate facility which houses a breeding colony that includes aged animals as well as the long-term care and study of animals surviving high-dose irradiation in the NIAID Nuclear Countermeasures Program.

Applicant Qualifications:

Candidates should hold a PhD, MD or equivalent degree in a relevant field. In addition to growing and maintaining a robust, internationally recognized research program and working in a team science environment across the translational spectrum, successful candidates will be expected to contribute to teaching and mentoring of students/trainees and to support an inclusive culture that welcomes diversity of experience and thought. Start-up package, laboratory space, salary and rank will be commensurate with experience. Applicants will be appointed to the department best aligning with their program.
