The Atrium Health Foundation Student Intern works directly with the strategic relations and communications team, reporting to the Director of Strategic Relations. The position emphasizes communications, event coordination, and donor relations responsibilities. The Student Intern will have the opportunity to also contribute to a variety of functions within the organization, such as development at Levine Children’s Hospital, and planning and implementation of annual giving programs. The goal of the Student Intern Program is to provide meaningful work experience to a student who wishes to pursue a career in the nonprofit/philanthropic sector. However, skills developed on the job and key accomplishments in this role my also translate to a variety of career paths, with careers in development,
event planning, and communications being the most applicable.

Student Interns may also have opportunities for hospital-based work through special events, committee meetings, media events, and hospital tours with Development teammates.

The Student Intern Program is especially well-suited to individuals with a passion for non-profit work, fundraising, event coordination, and communications. The Student Intern is expected to work collaboratively across multiple departments, while also demonstrating the ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a timely fashion.
Preferred experience in planning, prioritizing, oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, problem-solving, teamwork, social media proficiency (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) and graphic design.
Physical RequirementsRequires walking, sitting, lifting and reaching overhead. Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds at shoulder height. Must be able to push patients in wheelchairs or supplies on a rolling cart. Intact sense of sight and hearing is required. Responsible for working in a safe manner.
High School Diploma or GED required. Currently enrolled or at least one-year experience in a college/university as an undergraduate or graduate student in Healthcare, Hospitality, Social Sciences, Business Administration or Healthcare Administration required; concentration in Healthcare preferred. Planning, prioritizing, oral and written communication, interpersonal, problem solving, team, and computer skills required.
