Overview

Job Summary

Serves as a patient advocate from time of additional breast imaging throughout the patient’s radiology imaging journey; navigates patients through the healthcare system providing advocacy and direction through the diagnostic process as well as guiding patients through available resources. Serves as a liaison between patient, doctors, and family by facilitating physician’s recommendations for patient care. Ensures patient compliance and understanding; acts as a consistent point of contact for questions, emotional support and referrals. Develops and implements referral flow for each radiology visit. Assists in navigation program planning. Provides professional care, demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the ages of the patient/clients served and ability to provide care according to departmental policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as deemed competent.



Essential Functions

  • Coordinates the schedules in radiology to ensure a smooth patient flow for the special or invasive procedures.
  • Works with all modality leads to coordinate patient schedules with radiologists availability.
  • Serves as patient breast navigator for all imaging patients.
  • Assist with ensuring procedure rooms ready for procedures.
  • Coordinates or collaborates with physicians and nursing staff.
  • Performs duties of clerical, registration and coordinating scheduling
  • Prepares, processes or maintains records, reports, forms, logs and other documentation.

     

Physical Requirements
Most of work is performed from seated position. Reasonable amount of standing and walking. Reasonable amount of bending, stooping, kneeling or reaching. Requires consistent operation of computer terminal or calculator requiring manual dexterity. Occasionally moves, lifts or carries objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must have close and intermediate visual acuity. Must be able to hear and verbally communicate with others.

Education, Experience and Certifications.
Graduate of an accredited school or training program for Radiologic Technologists required. A minimum of five years of experience in radiology in an acute care hospital or Outpatient Imaging Facility required. ARRT (R) ARRT (M) preferred.
