Overview
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Cardiovascular Lab Specialist, the individual must demonstrate competency in basic and complex direct patient care and workflow. Performs only those designated activities that he/she is competent to perform based on education and training. Must demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal, teamwork, organization and prioritization skills. Is responsible for designated equipment and supplies used in the care of assigned patients. Must be flexible in changing assignments, workload and learning new skills. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients served in departments of the Heart Center.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- BLS Certification
- Universal Precautions
- Manifold: Prep, set-up and usage
- Patient Transport, room turn over, patient privacy
- Rhythm Identification
- 12-Lead Procedure and Interpretation
- Pre/Post Catheterization procedures, procedural patient, table and back table prep and equipment; procedural equipment identification Left heart cath and right heart cath – General procedure, equipment required, data collected, flow of procedure.
Education, Training, and Experience
- Must be a current student enrolled in the Cardiovascular Technology program
- Successful completion of first semester Cardiovascular courses
