The qualified candidate will have successfully completed a 2 year course for Medical Office Assistants at the post-secondary level. A bachelor's degree in business or a clinical field is preferred. A minimum of 3 years experience in a medical office or front office as well as experience with medical office information systems, electronic billing, and other automated functions is required. Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/CPT coding, Medicare/Medicaid guidelines and worker's compensation is needed. Strong verbal and written communication skills, a commitment to customer service and the ability to communicate effectively with all applicable customers and age groups is a must.
The Practice Coordinator is responsible for the business operations of the physician practice. Specific requirements include:
A. Supervises and trains business office employees.
B. Works to assure practice compliance with FLSA, CLlA, OSHA, ADA, EEO, and licensure requirements for physician practice.
C. Participates in the hiring of new business office staff for the specific practice.
D. Completes check in and checkout procedure utilizing the medical office information system.
E. Answers incoming telephone communication and routes to appropriate source within the practice.
F. Completes basic clerical duties, such as filing, typing, etc.
G. Receives mail, makes appropriate copies, and routes to appropriate source.
H. Maintains accurate medical records
I. Calls in prescriptions with physicians' approval.
J. Provides back up for all practice-based business office functions.
K. Communicates clearly and appropriately with team members, physician(s), and patients.
L. Performs other duties as assigned
