Job Summary
Insures patients are served appropriate meals in accordance with the physician diet order, and the sanitation and safety of the food service department. Acts as a host or hostess to explain patient meal service to patients, distribute patient trays, assembles patient trays, transport meal carts to the nursing units, and work in the call center.
Essential Functions
- Serves meals to patients on nursing units according to established policies and procedures.
- Assembles patient trays in the kitchen according to the physician diet order and patient meal selections.
- Transports food carts from the kitchen to nursing units.
- Answers the telephone in the call center and enters the patient meal selections into the diet office software.
- Provides training and guidance for new hires.
- Delivers supplies to nursing units or other departments.
Frequent lifting and or carrying of objects weighing up to 35 pounds; pushing up to 350 pound carts up and down ramps. Repetitive motions such as turning, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling and twisting. Standing for extensive periods of time. Extensive walking required.
