9B Neuro Cardiac Intermediate is a 19 bed unit, with 6 high acuity beds and 13 telemetry beds. This unit serves a diverse patient population with complex cardiac & neurological needs. Our progressive population can include increased oxygen requirements, advanced medication management, and increased neurological assessment standards. Cardiac and neuro patient populations merge to include patients with cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac work up for chest pain, cardiac catheterization along with post-craniotomy patients for brain tumors and stroke patients. Many of our patients are recovering from severe critical illnesses and require frequent monitoring and nursing interventions, complex care coordination, and intensive rehabilitation needs by physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Due to the high acuity of the progressive bed patients, the typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:3, with a 1:4 ratio for telemetry beds. 9B is a fast-paced environment that fosters exceptional teamwork, quality improvement, promotes growth and development through clinical advancement, and embraces leadership opportunities.
