Overview

Job Summary

Assesses, plans, coordinates, and evaluates the operational functions of clinical research. Manages research administration under the direction of department leadership.

Essential Functions

• Manages and allocates correspondence from nationally sponsored projects.
• Assists in the monitoring of clinical trials compliance.
• Manages and allocates Federally-funded research projects.
• Ensures research operations are in compliance with Federal Regulatory documents.
• Acts as a liaison between federally funded research bases and staff.
• Ensures that physicians are in compliance with federal agency standards, policies and procedures defined by the System as related to the requirements of research.
• Develops and implements a plan and model for coordinating research activities in other facilities.
• Proactively identifies future trends in clinical research.
• Negotiates contracts/budgets for pharmaceutical research projects.
• Coordinates financial management of all government and pharmaceutical projects.

Physical Requirements

Requires walking, standing, sitting, and lifting. Must lift a minimum of 10 pounds shoulder high. Must speak English. Must have an intact sense of sight and hearing. Must be able to be mobile within the entire healthcare system and other facilities that participate in Neurology Research studies.

Education, Experience and Certifications

Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration preferred. Previous research experience required. Computer skills with work processing databases, and spreadsheets. Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) Guidelines; basic scientific methods, biological principles, and medical terminology; Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Institutional Review Board (IRB) preferred.
