Overview

Essential Functions:

Performs specialized radiography and fluoroscopic coverage of interventional and angiographic procedures under the direction of a physician. Explains the procedure to the patient and preps the patient for the procedure. Obtains medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse. Circulates during the procedure and maintains responsibility for patient comfort.  Provides supplies necessary for diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures.  Removes catheters/sheaths and applies direct pressure or clamp as appropriate.  Provides necessary report information to the holding area or nursing unit as needed.  Records and processes hemodynamic reports, contrast media records and charges promptly and accurately.  Communicates equipment malfunctions to leadership or department engineer for repairs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education
  1. High School Graduate
  2. Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology
  3. Meets the requirements for registry by the ARRT.
  1. Experience
  1. Must have met the clinical requirements of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  2. Minimum one year experience in diagnostic imaging is preferred
  3. Minimum one year experience in Interventional Radiology or Radiology based invasive procedures is preferred
  1. Licensure/Certification
  1. Must hold current  ARRT(R) registry or become certified within one year of employment.
  2. Maintains and documents continuing education requirements as required by the ARRT
  3. Must be currently BCLS certified or become certified within three months.
