Atrium Health is looking for an experienced full time advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) specialized in Women’s Health to provide quality obstetrical and gynecological health services to patients in Charlotte and the underserved communities through our new Mobile Women’s Health Clinic. This position is occupied by board certified nurse practitioners (WHNP-BC / FNP-BC) and/or physician assistants (PA) who are specifically trained and proficient in the provision of women’s healthcare services under the direct supervision of physicians within the Atrium Women’s Health Division. The provider in this position will perform a variety of gynecological and prenatal health services within the clinician's scope of practice and skill level and in compliance with the rules and regulations set forth by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and North Carolina Medical Board. The ACP is responsible for evaluating, treating, and managing care for women across the lifespan.

Position Description:

  • Outpatient Clinic in Mobile Unit & Myers Park Clinic
  • Monday through Friday (8am – 5pm) current schedule
  • Teaching opportunities with residents and/or ACP Fellows

Position Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program. Current license to practice as a NP or PA in North Carolina. Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required. BLS for healthcare provider from AHA required.
  • Nurse practitioners are required to have a master’s degree or doctorate in nursing practice
  • Certification as nurse practitioner from a nationally recognized certifying body required
  • Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred. Current or pending CAQ certification preferred
  • +1 years of experience preferred
  • Able to perform thorough history and physical assessment. Also, able to evaluate, assess, and monitor other co-morbid medical conditions secondary to women’s health
  • Proficient in outpatient procedures including IUD insertion/removal, Nexplanon insertion/removal, and endometrial biopsy preferred
  • NC/SC Licensure

Essential Functions  

  • Performs initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and assessments. 
  • Records findings of examinations, assessments and plan of care
  • Performs outpatient procedures within specific scope of practice and skill level (i.e. IUD removal/insertion, Nexplanon removal/insertion, endometrial biopsy, colposcopy)
  • Writes appropriate prescriptions and administers medications
  • Orders and interprets laboratory and radiology examinations
  • Determines treatment plan for patient 
  • Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions in a medically appropriate manner on the patient's medical record
  • Acts as a patient advocate for the population served
  • Attends, participates and contributes to group/practice meetings and development of policies and procedures when requested
  • Interprets laboratory and ultrasound testing (POC)
