Overview

Job Summary

Manages and oversees one or more Community Engagement, Community Relations, Corporate Responsibility, Social Impact, and Community Health programs and business units. Manages and executes on the development of program goals, tactics, budgets, and communication plans to reinforce and influence Atrium Health’s reputation, community involvement, corporate responsibility, brand awareness, and social and health impact.  Works in partnership with the Community Engagement, Corporate Responsibility, Social Impact, and Health Directors in designing and implementing Atrium Health's corporate strategy that achieves internal and external stakeholder engagement.  Engages with internal or external stakeholders to provide education, program coordination and support to ensure successful implementation of Community and Social Impact (CSI) policies and programs. Serves as the primary point of contact and knowledge leader for their respective program. Implements and activate plans in line with best practices and Atrium Health’s core values, mission, priorities, and overall business strategy. Manages and oversees Community Health Worker (CHW) program and business units. Manages and executes on the development of CHW program operations including staff management, development of program goals and evaluation, budgets, and communications plans. Works in partnership across the enterprise in designing and implementing Atrium Health’s CHW strategy that improves access to care and addresses our patients’ non-clinical needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  
•    Manages programs and teams in Community Engagement, Community Relations, Corporate Responsibility, Social Impact, and Community Health.
•    Serves as a representative in Community Engagement, Community Relations, Corporate Responsibility, Social Impact, and Community Health by coordinating and executing system-wide initiatives and providing excellent customer service. 
•    Build, support, and maintain strategic partnerships with community nonprofits, public officials, policy and health advocates, corporate partners and foundations while continually assessing and making recommendations for appropriate level of funding and mutually beneficial engagement opportunities. 
•    Communicates clearly and concisely with internal partners to ensure CSR strategies and programs in the areas of community giving, service, investment, and health are effectively integrated throughout all business and strategic service lines. 
•    Develops key performance indicators in partnership with leadership that can be gathered, measured, and evaluated.    
•    Works in collaboration with executives, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide service training and facilitate involvement on key community boards/associations. 
•    Familiar with healthcare industry and CSI trends and informs the development of the Atrium Health CSR strategy. 
•    Manages and oversees CSR reports related to respective programs. 
•    Prepares agenda and meets with Director and leaders regularly about updates, challenges, project plan, and individual professional development plan(s).  
•    Maintains and utilize community engagement tracking tools to provide full record of activities on a regular basis compiling data reports as needed and at time with quick deadlines. 
•    Helps enforce and manage the organization’s brand identity and adheres to brand guidelines.  
•    Works with other internal departments as needed including: IAS, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Communications to accomplish work and coordinate activities and initiatives.  
•    Performs other duties as assigned.  

•    Provides strategic and operational oversight over the Community Health Worker (CHW) program, including management of staff, operations and care model alignment and integration.
•   Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to eliminate barriers and improve access to health care and acute social needs services in the community. 
•   Retrieve, mine, analyze and summarize CHW data aimed at impacting the health and quality of life in the community through the CHW intervention. 
•   Collaborate with clinicians, administrators, community officials to eliminate barriers and improve access to healthcare in the community.     

 •  Executes strategy in the field by direct contact with community leaders, government officials, administrators, or executives to convince, influence, coalesce, and align with Atrium Health Social and Community Health goals. 
•   Identifies, contacts, and maintains a culturally appropriate rapport with community stakeholders.  

•   Ability to lead enterprise Wide strategic initiatives.

•    Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once.
•    Understanding and experience in population health, value-based care, alternate payment models to drive health outcomes and reduce cost.
•    Self-directed with excellent time management and detail orientation. 
•    Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced healthcare environment with tight deadlines.
•    Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once. 
•    Adaptability based on changing needs of the organization.
•    Knowledgeable of acute social needs, social determinants of health, community health, evaluation, and health literacy principles.
•    Ability to engage clinical leaders and build relationships both within and outside of the health system to accomplish goals.   
•    Ability to navigate Epic or another Electronic Medical Record (EMR).  

•    Ability to navigate social care networks and platforms .

Physical Requirements

Works primarily in office environment with flexibility to work remotely as needed. Evening and/or weekend work required. Position requires walking around campus and/or other facilities. Must be able to drive and have access/use of a personal vehicle. Requires reading materials, speaking clearly on the telephone, and operating computer keyboard. Occasional lifting of documents or supplies up to 50 lbs. Ability to interact with senior executives, community leaders, elected officials on CSR strategy. Strong communication, presentation, and social networking skills. Strong organization and critical thinking skills. Must be able to work quickly under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects at once with supervision. Excellent written and verbal skills required. Ability to set clear goals and execute projects from start to finish. 

Education/Experience/Certifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field such as community relations, human services, communications, marketing, business, or public policy. Preferred degree in public health, healthcare administration or healthcare advocacy. Minimum of 5 years’ experience required with extensive knowledge of charitable giving/volunteers/sponsorship and corporate responsibility initiatives. Membership or engagement with national CSR organizations, community organizations, programs, and nonprofit groups. 2 or more years of professional related community and/or CHW experience preferred.  2 or more years of management level experience leading CHW teams and clinical care teams.  Experience in Acute Social Needs or related experience in healthcare, public health, health plan or non-profit work; health plan and/or alternate payment model experience preferred.  CHW training, certification preferred or will complete within 12 months of being hired.
