Overview
JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, selects and administers a variety of advanced and multi-parametered psychological tests based upon patient case history and testing objectives. Independently interprets tests and prepares a written narrative report of diagnostic findings.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in Psychology. Eighteen months of experience in the assessment and treatment of mental and psychological conditions. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Licensure or eligibility for North Carolina licensure as a Psychological Associate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Discusses and interprets findings in diagnostic conferences with psychiatrists, social caseworkers and other members of the evaluative team. Recommends treatment programs to alleviate problems identified. 2. Leads and directs individual and group therapy sessions of interpretative nature using techniques to give a patient insight into his/her behavior and emotions. 3. Develops and carries out behavior modification programs for severely disturbed or mentally handicapped patients or patient groups using recognized techniques. 4. Conducts staff development seminars on behavior dynamics, emotional disturbance and related subjects. 5. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
