Overview

Jeff Gordon Children’s Center ( JGCC), located within 420 bed Atrium Health Cabarrus, is a 28-bed children’s unit within Atrium Health that serves Cabarrus and the surrounding counties to deliver inpatient and sub-specialty care to the pediatric patients of that community. The children’s unit is a general pediatric, Progressive Care, and Epilepsy unit. JGCC is home to the regions only dedicated pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and is a Level 3 EMU designated by the National Association for Epilepsy Centers. It has also been accredited through The Joint Commission for disease specific certification for Epilepsy. Support services are available to the patients and families we serve with Certified Child Life Specialists throughout the children’s unit and ancillary departments. With an active Family Advisory Council, JGCH continuously evaluates and adapts to the needs of the patients and families we serve.

Job Schedule: 3pm-11pm M-F

Job Summary

Assists with the clerical duties related to patient care and management of nursing under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, or Charge Nurse.


Essential Functions

  • Receives and forwards incoming telephone calls, conveys messages, and responds to requests for information.
  • Ensures the appropriate disposition of laboratory and diagnostic reports.
  • Assembles charts of discharged patients according to format and files all materials in patient records.
  • Orders and monitors unit supplies.
  • Assists the registered nurse with transcription of physician's orders.
  • Assists with obtaining medical records.
  • Enters and ensures accuracy of data into computer.

    Physical Requirements

 

Responsible to work in a safe manner. Work requires walking, standing, lifting, reaching, handling of charts, supplies, and equipment.



Education, Experience and Certifications

High School Diploma or GED required. Data entry experience and/or experience in health care preferred.
