Histology Aide

Overview

The Histology Aide prepares histology slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists.  Includes frozen sections, paraffin mounts, cytology

preparations and stains related to each function.  Determines if surgical and cytology specimens are adequate and requests additional specimens if necessary.  Performs routine maintenance on

Instruments as directed. The Histology Aide must work under the direct supervision of a histology technician or pathologist.

1. QUALIFICATIONS:

2. High school graduate or equivalent

1. Experience
2. Previous experience as a histology aide is preferred but not required.
3. Must complete one year on the job training.
