Overview

Job Summary

Provides direction and oversight to all activities that fall under the center's mission including all pre-hospital and disaster preparedness education, disaster planning and response.

Essential Functions

• Plans, organizes, teaches, implements and evaluates all programs and courses taught through the center and supervises the administrative and public relations functions related to the educational mission.
• Provides oversight to all clinical and didactic components of the Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, and other pre-hospital related/disaster preparedness educational programs.
• Establishes, oversees, and enforces all rules and regulations pertaining to all course administration, including student manuals, student rights, appeals, disciplinary actions, graduation, and certifications.
• Assists in developing, implementing and evaluating a process for assessing students and prospective students through every course of instruction.
• Prepares and oversees the center's annual operating budget and is responsible for receiving and responding to all financial reports in correspondence with the Accounting Department.
• Oversees the development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of all pre-hospital courses/curriculum by the center's clinical faculty/adjunct staff members.
• Participates in any internal or external disaster planning activities, or any activity in the County, Region, or State.

Physical Requirements
Works in the administrative office as well as the classroom, hospital/field clinical rotations. Required to travel to Mecklenburg EMS Agency, local area hospitals, and clinics for recruitment and oversight. Must be able to work flexible hours depending upon program or course schedule, to include evenings and weekends. Requires walking, sitting, standing, lifting of heavy training equipment, and operation of medical equipment.

Education, Experience and Certifications

Bachelor's Degree required. Degree in clinical or scientific field preferred. Master's Degree in nursing or education preferred. 3 years or more of direct pre-hospital education experience required. EMT-P required. RN preferred. Possesses NC-OEMS Paramedic Instructor certification or obtain credential within 6 months of hire. Must maintain ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS instructor certifications. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) from AHA required.
