Job Summary
Provides academic and administrative leadership for the department. Plans, implements, and assesses program outcomes; designs, implements, and evaluates curriculum; and recruits, selects, and advises students. Anticipates and recommends program resource needs; recruits qualified faculty, and assigns faculty workloads, responsible for program budgets.  Ensures program compliance with accreditation standards.

Essential Functions

 

 

  • Responsible for quality management of the program.
  • Oversees planning, development, and implementation of curriculum in accordance with emerging trends and approval/accrediting agencies.
  • Teaches at least one course per semester.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors program budgets
  • Collaborates with Admissions and Student Affairs staff to recruit, select, and retain students.
  • Anticipates and recommends needed resources.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures.
  • Actively engages as a role model in College activities and on College committees.
  • Continually develops knowledge of pedagogy, the academic discipline, program management, and the clinical profession.

 

Physical Requirements
Normal or corrected auditory and visual acuity. Able to use standard office equipment, including computers.  Moderate amounts of balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching as well as UE motor control and coordination and finger work.  Environment is climate controlled with occasional exposure to inclement weather when travelling between buildings. Occasional driving to other locations. Generally works days with occasional weekends and evenings.

Education, Experience and Certifications

 

Doctoral degree from regionally accredited college or university required. Certified Occupational Therapist, eligible for licensure in North Carolina. Minimum 8 years experience in field of occupational therapy, including clinical practice, management experience, proven scholarship, and at least 3 years of full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the post-baccalaureate level.  Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills. New program development skills preferred.
