Job Summary
Plans, organizes and directs all aspects of Respiratory Care to comply with standards set forth by regulatory organizations and integrate the departmental activities in to the overall organization.

Essential Functions

 

  • Integrates the Respiratory Care departmental activities into the organizations primary functions.
  • Maintains the departmental budget. Maintains quality and control programs as appropriate. Maintains JCAHO Standards.
  • Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of the Respiratory Care Department activities and services. Performs an annual appraisal of all procedures and policies and updates as needed.
  • Maintains a high level patient experience
  • Determines the qualifications and competence of departmental personnel.
  • Assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided Continuously.
  • Maintains a high teammate engagement culture within the department
  • Orients and provides in-service training and education to all persons within the department.
  • Facilitates Process Improvement in the department.

Physical Requirements
Requires repetitive physical activity. Able to walk and stand to perform duties. Ability to lift materials weighing 20-50 pounds from stretcher to bed for from bed to stretcher. Ability to move patients weighing up to 150 pounds from stretcher to bed or from bed to stretcher. Adequate hearing and eyesight is necessary. Exposure to a working environment that may include odors, low lighting and crowded working conditions.

Education, Experience and Certifications
Associates Degree in Respiratory Care required; Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred. Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care; RRT and current NCRCB license required. 3 years' management experience in an acute care facility required. BLS (Basic Life Support) required. Membership in the national chapter of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) required. Advanced certifications per facility may be required.
