Job Summary
Partners with senior leaders and department leaders to drive breakthrough improvements in operational quality and efficiency. Serves as a mentor and coach to front line teammates as well as various levels of leadership within the department, facility and/or service line. Emphasis will be placed on Lean Strategy development; the deployment of Lean methodology; change management; and problem solving.

 

Essential Functions

  • Builds strong relationships with various levels of leadership (front-line to executive). Supports leadership to implement Lean strategy deployment and process improvement for assigned areas within Atrium Health.
  • Facilitates change by influencing people without authority.
  • Leads large scale transformation efforts.
  • Thinks strategically and innovatively.
  • Leads process improvement and change management implementations using advanced Lean tools and methods.
  • Collaborates with leadership in the implementation of facility renovation and construction projects by leading the development of quality improvements into the physical layout and future state process design.
  • Coaches mid-level executives on Lean leadership and manages culture change throughout the assigned organization.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Direct supervision experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in operations management
  • Extensive experience in Lean methods, tools, strategies and philosophies
  • 5 to 10 years experience in facilitating Lean Transformation
  • High level of emotional intelligence
  • Significant experience in VSMs and Rapid Improvement Events (Kaizen events), A3 thinking, Managing for Daily Improvement, 5S, Visual Management and Standard Work
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and team facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management
  • Strong capability in data analytics, and ability to utilize data for problem solving and root cause analysis
  • High level of initiative with self-starter mindset
  • Strong ability to drive work independently with limited direction.
  • High comfort with ambiguity.
  • Proven track record of achieving breakthrough results through implementation of large-scale projects and value-added change.
  • Demonstrated competency in strategy deployment and change management tools and techniques.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Masters Degree
  • Lean Healthcare experience
  • More than 5 years operations management experience leading direct reports and having full P&L responsibility
  • Experience with executive level stakeholders
  • Management consulting with focus on process improvement, lean and change management

 

Physical Requirements
Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting reaching. Must lift a minimum of 15 pounds shoulder high. Must have intact sense of sight and hearing. Must be mobile within the entire Carolinas Healthcare System.
