Job Summary
The Assistant Vice President Contract Negotiation is a key leader in Purchased Services Value Optimization (PVSO).

Provides leadership and oversight for vendor negotiations, contract development for purchased equipment, supplies and services. This position works as a collaborating partner with other leaders within the Purchased Services Value Optimization Department and is accountable to Atrium Health to manage and reduce over $1B in non-payroll spend.

Essential Functions

 

 

  • Drafts, reviews, and finalizes contracts and other legal documents to ensure adherence to company policies, specifications, and good business practices. In partnership with the OGC, crafts special clauses and other terms/conditions as required.
  • Provides advice to management on contract matters that may have significantly adverse legal implications (i.e., contracts with non-standard or potentially high-risk terms/conditions); provide guidance on contract matters to leadership and the Purchased Services Value Optimization Department.
  • Participates in proposal preparation and develops mitigation strategies for proposal submittals to assure a smooth handoff from the Contract Design team.
  • Maintains contractual records and documentation and control of all contract correspondence in the contract management system ensuring all contracts are entered into the system with the correct attributes (description, dates, contract type, notification dates, key terms, etc.)
  • Performs regular audits of the contract management tool to identify omissions, errors, and make the necessary corrections
  • Ensures communications are maintained for timely contract execution by the parties. Ensures final contract documents are consistent with agreements reached during negotiations.
  • Understands and aids the Implementation teams� understanding of all contract requirements and coordinates with the Implementation team to ensure compliance with all contracts throughout the life of the project.
  • Responds to complex inquiries regarding contract obligations and revisions and prepares change order and amendment documents in conjunction with legal and the leadership team. Manages the ongoing life cycle of the agreements including any potential amendments to product/service price and/or terms and conditions, contract performance against commitments, and compliance to agreed upon terms.
  • Aids in negotiating contract terms, pricing and payment schedules, ensuring that the agreements with vendors/suppliers are commercially advantageous. Leads and organizes cost analysis for Contractor requested Change Orders.
  • Collaborates with leaders from teams, along with other Atrium Health leaders (Finance, Regulatory, Operations, Clinical, Legal), to develop and maintain a robust contract management system for all non-supply contracts across the System

 

 

Physical Requirements
Work requires sitting at desk for prolonged periods of time while working at the computer or on telephone. Requires the ability to deal effectively with business partners and internal customers, promoting a positive image for the System. Includes travel to participating Alliance facilities and vendor sites as appropriate

Education, Experience and Certifications
Master's Degrees in business and/or healthcare required or Law Degree preferred. Minimum of five years support services experience in Purchasing/Materials Management in a complex integrated delivery network or academic medical center. Minimum of two years contract negotiating experience required. Must complete the ACHE Negotiation Certification Course, or its equivalent, within one year of employment. Previous project management, team leadership, or supervisory skills required.
